Teaching Philosophy

I believe that all children deserve to experience Art in their lives.

Art impacts the way we understand, interpret, and connect to the world around us. It is a way to communicate ideas, stories, feelings, and history. When we give children opportunities to view and create art, we are giving them tools to express themselves, connect to others, deepen cultural awareness, and develop empathy.

As an art educator, my goal is to provide a safe, welcoming environment for students to express themselves creatively. I believe that every student is unique and that we often learn and communicate in unique ways. In my art room, students explore a variety of materials and techniques. We view, interpret, and gain inspiration from artwork examples both from the past and the present.

My goal is to empower students through art lessons that honor their individual artistic voices. While we may work towards common learning objectives, I celebrate the unique perspectives each student brings. I aspire for my students not only to feel inspired but also to inspire those around them.
